L’Armée du Salut lance la 124e édition de sa campagne annuelle des marmites de Noël

La campagne de financement de l’Armée du Salut, qui a déjà reçu un don de 50 000 $ de la Great-West, vise à mettre fin à la pauvreté au Canada.

Toronto, le 17 novembre 2014 – L’Armée du Salut a lancé ce matin la 124e édition de sa campagne nationale des marmites de Noël, qui a pour but de solliciter des dons auprès de la population afin d’aider les millions de Canadiens qui vivent dans la pauvreté. La campagne, dont l’objectif est de 21 000 000 $, permettra aux entités locales de l’organisation de répondre aux besoins essentiels de personnes et de familles démunies en leur procurant de la nourriture, des vêtements, un logement et d’autres types d’assistance au quotidien. Les dons aideront également l’Armée du Salut à offrir des programmes transformateurs – traitement de la toxicomanie, aide au logement, formation à l’emploi et études – qui permettent aux participants de trouver une solution permanente à la pauvreté.

“Les gens identifient l’Armée du Salut à la période des fêtes à cause de nos marmites de Noël, visibles dans tout le pays en novembre et en décembre. Cependant, nous voulons une reconnaissance encore plus profonde“, explique la commissaire Susan McMillan, chef de territoire de l’Armée du Salut au Canada et aux Bermudes. “Cette année, nous souhaitons établir un lien avec les membres de la collectivité et leur faire savoir que leurs dons permettront d’offrir un repas chaud à une mère et à son enfant, ou un refuge pendant le rigoureux hiver canadien.“

Depuis plus de 130 ans, l’Armée du Salut offre espoir et dignité grâce à la générosité de ses donateurs et de ses bénévoles. La campagne, qui a lieu dans plus de 2 000 endroits à travers le pays, est l’activité de financement la plus importante de l’année, et ne serait pas possible sans la participation des milliers de préposés bénévoles.

“Chaque année, nous sommes ébahis et reconnaissants de la générosité de nos amis et de nos familles, qui soutiennent l’Armée dans sa lutte contre la pauvreté“, déclare la commissaire McMillan.

L’Armée du Salut est reconnaissante à la Great-West, qui a offert un don de 50 000 $ pour le lancement de la campagne des marmites de Noël. Chaque année, l’Armée du Salut compte sur le soutien de nombreuses entreprises partenaires, comme Loblaw Companies Limited, Walmart Canada, Costco, BC Liquor Stores, LCBO (en Ontario), Canadian Tire, Cadillac Fairview, Metro, Safeway, Save-on-foods, Sobeys et bien d’autres, qui autorisent l’Armée à placer ses marmites de Noël dans leurs magasins.
