« J’étais entre deux contrats de travail, fauchée, et j’avais du mal à nourrir mes trois garçons, confie Denise. Mes enfants ouvraient les armoires pour trouver des choses à grignoter, mais elles étaient vides. À plusieurs occasions je me suis privée de nourriture pour nourrir ma famille. »

Depuis, Denise s’est remise sur pied, possède un studio d’art et redonne à l’Armée du Salut en reconnaissance de ce que l’organisation a fait pour elle au moment où elle en avait le plus besoin.
