L’objectif de 21 000 000 $ de la campagne des marmites de Noël de l’Armée du Salut a été dépassé

Toronto, le 10 janvier 2017 – L’Armée du Salut est fière d’annoncer que sa campagne des marmites de Noël 2016 a généré plus de 23 500 000 $ à l’échelle nationale, surpassant ainsi l’objectif prévu de 21 000 000 $.

« Nous sommes extrêmement reconnaissants du fidèle soutien de nos donateurs, de nos bénévoles et de nos partenaires communautaires, qui nous permet de prêter assistance à 1,9 million de Canadiens, pendant le temps des fêtes et tout au long de l’année », déclare la commissaire Susan McMillan, chef du territoire du Canada et des Bermudes de l’Armée du Salut.

Étant donné la demande croissante de services dans tout le pays, l’Armée du Salut utilisera les fonds additionnels pour répondre aux besoins essentiels des personnes les plus vulnérables, notamment de la nourriture, des vêtements et des services d’hébergement. Les dons permettent également à l’Armée du Salut d’offrir une vaste gamme de programmes – aide au logement, formation professionnelle, établissement d’un budget, apprentissage de l’informatique, traitement de l’alcoolisme et de la toxicomanie – qui transforment des vies et contribuent à briser le cycle de la pauvreté.

La campagne annuelle des marmites de Noël (quelque 2000 marmites disséminées dans tout le Canada) constitue la plus grande activité de financement de l’organisation. Elle ne pourrait avoir lieu sans la contribution de milliers de bénévoles.

Le succès de la campagne des marmites de Noël résulte également du soutien d’entreprises partenaires, notamment Walmart Canada, les Compagnies Loblaw limitée, Costco, Kellogg Canada, BC Liquor Stores, LCBO (en Ontario), Canadian Tire, Cadillac Fairview, Metro, Safeway, Save-on-Foods, Sobeys, Bass Pro Shops, Krispy Kreme, qui accueillent des marmites dans leurs magasins chaque année.

« Sans nos partenaires commerciaux, notre campagne ne pourrait connaître un aussi grand succès, souligne la commissaire McMillan. Leur appui contribue non seulement à faire connaître nos programmes et nos services, mais également à donner de l’espoir aux milliers de personnes vulnérables qui, jour après jour, se tournent vers nous pour obtenir de l’aide.
