Le 16 janvier dernier, Goodwill, partenaire au Québec de l’organisation Renaissance, a annoncé la fermeture de 16 magasins et centres de dons en Ontario. Cet organisme sans but lucratif récupère des vêtements et des biens qu’il vend ensuite pour appuyer ses programmes destinés aux personnes aux prises avec des difficultés d’apprentissage ou une incapacité physique.
« L’Armée du Salut salue le travail important que Goodwill fait en Ontario et partout au pays, et espère que cet organisme réussira à résoudre ses problèmes dans la région de Toronto, afin qu’il puisse continuer à venir en aide à tous ceux qui en dépendent soit comme source de revenus soit comme source d’aide », dit Michele Walker, directrice des opérations de détail.
Le service national de recyclage de l’Armée du Salut (magasins d’occasions), qui a une longue tradition dans ce domaine, exploite une centaine de magasins au Canada. Grâce aux efforts du personnel, à la générosité des donateurs et à la fidélité de la clientèle, l’Armée du Salut connaît un succès continu dans un environnement aussi concurrentiel que celui du commerce de détail.
« Les dons de biens et de services sont à la base de nos magasins d’occasions », explique Mme Walker. « Ils permettent non seulement d’appuyer les personnes les plus vulnérables, mais aussi de soutenir nos programmes et services, comme les camps pour enfants ou les banques alimentaires. »
Tous les dons sont toujours les bienvenus – vêtements, articles ménagers, meubles, appareils électroniques, ordinateurs, jouets, DVD, CD, livres, accessoires, antiquités et objets de collection.
