Pour des centaines d’enfants de familles à faible revenu partout au pays, l’été sera encore plus ensoleillé grâce à la campagne « Envoyer un enfant au camp » des magasins d’occasions de l’Armée du Salut.

Du 11 avril au 11 juin, dans 106 magasins d’occasions, la campagne, maintenant dans sa sixième année, a généré 133 894 $, un record. Au départ, l’objectif était d’envoyer 500 enfants au camp. Mais cet objectif a été dépassé, ce qui permet à présent à 608 enfants de profiter de leur été dans l’un des 13 camps de l’Armée du Salut répartis au Canada.

« Nous sommes ravis de pouvoir envoyer des enfants au camp d’été en soutenant cette formidable initiative, se réjouit Michele Walker, directrice des opérations de détail. Passer une semaine au camp est une expérience enrichissante dont ces enfants n’auraient pas eu l’occasion de profiter autrement. Ils vont maintenant se faire des souvenirs inoubliables. »

Au camp, les enfants peuvent passer du temps en plein air et se dépenser en faisant de la randonnée dans les bois, du VTT, du canoë, de l’escalade, du sport et des jeux. Ils participent également à des activités de groupe, à des soirées thématiques, à des feux de camp, etc.

« Envoyer un enfant au camp » est une campagne qui tient à cœur aux membres du personnel de nos magasins, d’autant qu’ils font un travail exceptionnel et participent activement à leur collectivité, ajoute Mme Walker. Nous remercions vivement tous les généreux donateurs et les personnes qui nous soutiennent, car leur incroyable contribution a rendu tout cela possible.
